Pacific Life Open!

Last weekend I went to the Pacific Life Open. This was better than Christmas day for Jessica. She is a huge tennis fan who loves Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. So we headed out to the tourney with one mission: obtain pictures & autographs of tennis idols. Although we got there hours early, it would all come down to being at the right place at the right time.

The first Rafa sighting:

Jes was so bold, she shouted his name and even grabbed him by the arm to ask for a picture.

First try: Darn. Jessica is eclipsed by an over-sized tennis ball.

Second try: We actually asked him if he would please look up.

Third try: We got Rafa. The #2 Tennis player in the world.

But could we get #1? The King of the court?

We were tipped off by a nice lady in security that Federer would be warming up on court H. Yesss!

Check out that wind up!

Dingdingding. The king himself with my little Jes.

All smiles after the conquest.

Blog Etiquette

Can I truly just write about whatever I want? Is this the new age journal entry? Do I need to worry about people who get links from other blogs and keep following those links until complete strangers are looking at my baby pictures? Well, I am not going to think too much, and so for our new blogger nation I ask for forgiveness in advance for my randomness and my extreme love for sports (this is what I truly want to talk about most of the time but will refrain for Julia's sake).

Happy Birthday, Christopher!

So many reasons to be glad you were born. Here are a few.

Your pudgy cuteness!

This face.

You look great without a shirt on!

You've got mad hops

...and adventurous spirit.

You've got the intimidation factor

...and a sense of humor (especially when your friends wake you up at 7 am for a surprise birthday breakfast).

You are wonderful. Love you lots!

Sweet Trade

My friend Jill recently made a wonderful suggestion. She has a blog that I frequent where she documents her various knitting/crafting conquests. I swapped her this blog masthead design for a funky knitted hat she calls "le slouch." I am looking forward to finding it in my mailbox.

Joy Ride #1

How do I love bike rides? Let me count the ways:

Getting outside after being cooped up indoors all day

It's like old times when I would ride my bike to Don's Country store for a laffy taffy and let the bag dangle off the handles

Rounding the last hill and seeing the glittering ocean

Not having to be embarrassed, since it is now cool to be green

Riding up to El Pollo Loco because I am addicted to it

Looking at interesting people

Interesting people not looking back at me because I am wearing tough-looking sunglasses

Discovering little neighborhoods I wouldn't have seen otherwise

Reminds me of a song by Queen that I am fond of

Hearing green birds chirping madly in the trees

Leg exercise

Here We Come...

I thought I'd hold off until we had kids, but moving seems like the perfect excuse to start a blog. :)
Its been a few weeks since Chris and I moved from Provo to Long Beach and I think I have successfully made the transition from feeling like an impostor to feeling like we actually live here.
It is simultaneously awesome/scary/different. Multitudinous freeways! Flow of traffic 90 mph! 5 thousand keys required to get from the parking garage to our apartment! Sunshine in February! Denim-wearing at church! Bike rides on the beach! Vintage shopping galore!

We'll have tales to tell and will keep you posted.
